Web programming? Here’s my story!

I wanted to introduce myself to you, visitors of my site. I’m Madalin and I’m currently a freelance web developer, who also works as a WordPress developer at Codeinwp. I’ve always been fascinated by IT and anything having to do with technology, including blogging, and believe that anyone can write code. Even the most technical challenged person in the world can learn how to code if they are really committed to their progress and have a lot of passion for it, along with enough time to invest in their coding education.

I’m actually a good example for this since I was studying Management and Economics for three years before I came to realize that it wasn’t enough. I needed to find the right path for myself and search for a field that would challenge me while allowing me to be creative at the same time. I wanted something to keep my interest no matter how bored I grew and would always keep me fascinated and eager to learn more.

I had zero knowledge about programming…not even the basics. I’ve never done anything like this before, but I knew I wanted to learn as much as I could about programming and web development. And I knew that if I really put my mind to it, I’d be able to have a successful career in programming and began my career change. And guess what?!

I did! Yeah, it took just one year to learn everything I needed to know programming and web development in order to start to work in this field and now I can so many things – from creating websites to WordPress themes and plugins. It’s everything I needed to start the career of my dreams. And I’m still learning more about the field every day since technology is always changing and there’s always something new to learn.

So how did I learn all these things in less than a year? Well, when I decided I wanted to try programming, I started to search for online courses. After hours of searching, I found Udemy courses on sale on the Creative Blog Deals website. After a few days trying it out, I wasn’t getting anything clear and was feeling discouraged. It was a lot of information and I thought I’d never pick up anything.

Then one friend introduced me to Treehouse, which offers online courses. They provide students with a free two-week trial, so I decided to try one as well to see if it  and if programming was something I really wanted to do. It turned out to be the best decision! After the trial period, I was already fascinated about the program and the team.

Thanks to Treehouse, I’ve learned so many things in one year about web programming, including PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML and more. Now I’m enjoying my life as a freelancer, but I’m not done with studying. I will always have something new to learn. I’m excited to use all the knowledge I’ve learned on a daily basis and really love what I do and now I can even practice management skills in this special field.

I’m not saying that Udemy is not a good program, but in my case Treehouse, courses fitted better to my needs, knowing I was totally a novice to programming. My advice is to try everything until you find the best program for you!

I’d like to thank the Treehouse team, especially Zac Gordon and Nick Pettit – my favorite teachers – for their wonderful work and for teaching me everything I needed to start my dream career.

With that being said, I just want to let everyone know that you should never give up on your dream, no matter how hard it is!
